One layer card: Let your dreams take flight

Hello,

Stamp-paint-stamp technique is an easy way to create stunning images by using dye inks and acrylic paints. This time I used this technique on a simple one layer card, using an amazing new stamp design by one of my favourite artists, Andy Skinner. The stamp was recently released by Creative Expressions.

For this technique you need a stamping platform as you stamp the image twice. I like to use Archival inks as they work really nicely with acrylic paints.

The steps in the technique are easy:

  • Place the card on a stamping platform and secure well with magnets or masking tape. Stamp the image with inks that work well with acrylic paints (Archival, StazOn etc.)
  • Leave both the stamped card and the stamp attached to the stamping platform (card on the base  and stamp on the lid). Paint the image with acrylic paints. You may very well paint over the lines as you will reveal the image lines with your second print.
    Let dry.
  • Ink the stamp again, close the lid of the stamping platform, and press the stamp on the stamped and painted image.
  • Remove the card from the stamping platform and let dry properly for several hours.

I used a simple grey folded card bases for my projects, and they worked really nice with the acrylic paints (used Dina Wakley media acrylic paints for my cards). I loved the result and created two versions on the same go. The bright paints really highlight nicely Andy's beautiful design!

Hope this inspires you to give a try. Trust me, that technique is super fun!
