Scrapbooking layout: Pretty pink

Colours, colours, colours!

This 12" layout is bursting with colours, inspired by the pink dip dye hairstyle on the picture and the GORGEOUS background paper. Luckily I had pink metallic alpha letters in my stash; they were the perfect 'cherry-on-top' for this layout!

Some of the floral die-cuts (I believe they were from Basic Grey) were decorated with machine sewn stitches, so decided to add more texture with embroidery yarn by wrapping yarn around the flower shapes or hand-stitching some simple stitches in the centers.

I inked the edges of the petals to make the flowers look a bit dimensional. Those inked edges looked really nice when the flowers were layered on the page, making them stand out from the background.

I also decorated some of the flowers with a white gel pen. The die-cut leaves got a bit of highlight with a white charcoal pen.

This colourful page makes me smile. It also reminds me to play with the purchased embellishments in my stash; the ready-made pieces are allowed to be altered in various ways to become more interesting, more dimensional or just a better match to the other elements on the page. Sometimes the layout turns out way better than you could’ve ever imagined!

Wishing you a colourful new week!
