Scrapbooking layout where 49 and Market meets Tim Holtz!

Hi!

I'm currently enjoying my summer holiday, and have had time for my favourite hobby,  scrapbooking!

Today I'm sharing with you my latest layout on which I really enjoyed creating; the page is a colourful collection of this and that, showcasing one of my favourite photos of my dear daughter.

The lovely background paper by 49 and Market has nice soft grey and light blue tones that really make the bright colours pop. The paper had colourful paint stokes on it, and as I wanted even more colour on the page I used acrylic paints with similar colours and extended the painted areas a bit. That worked well!
Prior painting I added more patterns on the page by using collage glue and gluing down strips of Tim Holtz tissue paper on the page. The contrast was bit too heavy, so I white washed the pattern strips with a thin layer of gesso. That way the bold b&w patterns became softer and did not draw too much attention.

The background paper also had some leaf images and black paint splashes, so I added some more. Great patterns and textures inspire me to repeat them! 😀

The flowers on the photo background suggested to decorate the page with flowers, but instead of going with some traditional floral embellishments I decided to put my new Tim Holtz flower stamps into use.  I stamped the flowers on white paper,  coloured them with alcohol markers and fuzzy cut. I think the grungy images work well with the grungy background; I don't hezitate to combine elements from different brands.

I also wanted to use the rolls of  'Ticket Essentials' from 49 and Market I had purchased recently. And ended up using quite many tickets on the page! To connect the little embellishments with the background I stitched simple crosses with dark grey embroidery yarn on the labels. Little details matter. 😊

Hope this layout inspires you to 'mix and match' elements from various collections. Thanks for stopping by, hope you will have a great day!

Hugs,
