Back-to-basics scrapbooking

Hi!

As I wrote on one of my recent posts, late April I had the pleasure to attend a weekend long paper crafting event in Southwestern Finland. Spending the weekend with close crafting friends in a beautiful location by a lake was such a joy!

Our creative organizers arranged several challenges for us throughout the weekend. As usual, there was  no obligation to participate, but the themes and tasks were really fun, taking us nicely out of our comfort zones. I think most of us took part in most of the challenges!

This was one of the challenges:
Our assignment was to create a project (any kind, no restrictions) using only very standard crafting supplies: blank paper, pens, paints, inks, scissors and some adhesive. We were not allowed to use even the most basic supplies like stamps, stencils nor punches and also die-cutting or using ready-made embellishments was out of the question. For someone who loves crafting supplies as much as I do this was a true challenge! 😁

As I'm a scrapbooker I decided to make a 12" scrapbooking layout with a simple inked background. I decorated the page with hand-drawn, watercolour painted and fuzzy-cut embellishments. I stretched the challenge rules a bit by using a photo; trying to create a scrapbook page with a hand-drawn picture was not an option for me 😀. Well, I think using a photo on a scrapbook layout was quite ok anyway.

After the initial struggle the page came together quite quickly, and I had a lot of fun making it.

However, this page does not send a message that new crafting supplies would not be needed. Absolutely not! What a crazy idea! LOL!
